Scaffolding
2025-2026
Scaffolding is an ongoing series of large-scale mixed-media paintings on prepared canvas, accompanied by drawing studies on paper. The project examines buildings as metaphors for human-made systems, asking how structures meant to shelter us can become sites of collapse, exposure, and unequal protection. Drawing from real cases of preventable building collapse, fire, and precarious shelter, the works move between personal experience and collective vulnerability. Damaged buildings, domestic interiors, scaffolds, maps, and empty chairs appear through layered processes of painting, drawing, transfer, and erasure. Through these built, buried, and destabilized images, Scaffolding asks how shelter becomes evidence of what is protected, abandoned, and left at risk.
