Detached
2018 to 2020
Detached is a series of etching prints that traces memory as a shifting terrain, where time, place, and self are continually revised. Drawing from personal and inherited narratives, the work reflects on memory as something suspended between places, altered by distance, time, and the evolving sense of self. Through etching, repeated impressions from the same plates become acts of return, like revisiting an image, figure, or memory that changes each time it is touched. Variations in wiping, chine collé, color palette, and mark-making allow the same imagery to carry different moods and emotional weights. These layered images hold multiple versions of the same moment, suggesting the fluidity of identity, memory, and understanding of self.
